About Me

As the former Director of Pre-Professional Programs and Advising at Johns Hopkins University, I advised thousands of pre-med students and alumni as they explored pre-med activities, reflected upon a career in medicine, and applied to medical school. And that’s what I’m here to do for you. My goal is to guide you on your pre-med path and journey to medical school admissions through open, honest, and trustworthy communication.

My areas of expertise include advising students and applicants on:

  • Strategies for becoming a successful applicant to medical school
  • Obtaining clinical experiences, community service, and research
  • Readiness to apply
  • Overcoming obstacles, such as institutional action or a lower GPA
  • Applying to post-bac programs
  • MD-PhD considerations
  • MCAT timeline
  • Who and how to ask for letters of recommendation
  • Gap year assistance
  • How to write a personal statement
  • Building a school list
  • Completing the AMCAS application (as well as AACOMAS and TMDSAS)
  • Interview prep
  • Strategies for reapplicants

As a long-term advisor, I’ve forged relationships with medical school deans and directors across the country, so I know what many of them are seeking from applicants. I also have been an active member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions since 2009, serving on committees and presenting at regional and national conferences.
